Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy

At Roadrunner Xpress Inc., we are committed to providing safe, reliable, and fully compliant shipping services. To ensure your shipments meet all legal, safety, and customs regulations, please review the following prohibited and restricted items list before sending any packages through our courier service.

By shipping with Roadrunner Xpress Inc., you agree to comply with the restrictions outlined below and with all applicable laws of the United States and Jamaica.

1. General Policy

Customers are solely responsible for ensuring that all items shipped through Roadrunner Xpress comply with U.S. export laws, airline and courier safety standards, and Jamaican import regulations.

Roadrunner Xpress reserves the right to:

  • Inspect packages at any time;
  • Refuse shipment of any prohibited or improperly declared item;
  • Dispose of or return such items at the sender's expense; and
  • Apply applicable surcharges or destruction fees as required by customs or carriers.

2. Prohibited Items – Air Courier / Air Freight

The following items cannot be shipped under any circumstance by air courier or air freight to Jamaica. These items will be removed and destroyed if discovered in a shipment, and the customer will be charged a surcharge of USD $30 (or equivalent) for handling and disposal.

NO BATTERIESAny batteries of any type, including those in mobile phones, tablets, cameras, and remote controls.
NO PILLS / CAPSULES / TABLETSAll forms of medication, whether prescription or over-the-counter.
NO AEROSOLS / GASDeodorants, hairspray, paint, cigarette lighters, gas canisters, or any pressurized container.
NO VAPE / TOBACCO PRODUCTSElectronic cigarettes, vape pens, or tobacco of any kind.
NO PRINTER CARTRIDGESInk or toner cartridges for any printer.
NO BARS OF SOAPSolid soap bars or related chemical compounds.
NO CANDLES OR WAXCandles, wax melts, or other wax-based materials.
NO KNIVES / WEAPONSKnives, blades, or any item that may be classified as a weapon.

Important:

Shipments containing any of the above will be refused, destroyed, or returned to sender at the customer's expense.

3. Restricted Items (Permit Required for Import to Jamaica)

Certain items may be imported only with prior approval or a permit from the relevant Jamaican authority. These items may be detained by Customs Officers until proper documentation is presented.

Note:

Import permits must be obtained before shipping. Items arriving without the required permits will be detained or confiscated by Jamaican Customs.

4. Additional Restricted or Controlled Goods

The following are also classified as restricted or prohibited for import unless properly licensed or cleared through the relevant authorities:

  • Riot gear, handcuffs, and body armor;
  • Credit card scanners and data skimming devices;
  • Firearm accessories or ammunition parts;
  • Radar detectors or laser pointers;
  • Metal detectors;
  • Explosives, gunpowder, or dynamite;
  • High-value items or perishable goods without proper documentation;
  • Animals, meats, fruits, vegetables, or plants without permits from the Ministry of Agriculture.

5. Customs and Legal Compliance

All shipments to Jamaica are subject to Jamaica Customs Department inspection and Customs Act regulations.

Roadrunner Xpress Inc. operates as a third-party courier service provider and is not responsible for:

  • The issuance or denial of import permits;
  • Customs delays or seizures due to incomplete documentation;
  • Duties, taxes, or storage fees assessed by customs;
  • Destruction or forfeiture of prohibited items by authorities.

Customers are strongly encouraged to verify import eligibility before purchasing or shipping goods.

6. Size and Weight Restrictions

To ensure safe handling and compliance with courier partners:

Standard Packages

  • Max weight: 70 lbs (32 kg)
  • Max dimensions: 48" (L) x 30" (W) x 30" (H)

Oversized Packages

  • Max weight: 150 lbs (68 kg)
  • Max dimensions: 60" (L) x 40" (W)
  • Oversize fees apply and may require special handling.

Packages exceeding these limits may be refused or delayed.

7. Liability Disclaimer

Roadrunner Xpress Inc. shall not be held liable for:

  • Confiscation, delay, or destruction of any prohibited or restricted item;
  • Consequential losses or inconvenience resulting from customs or carrier actions;
  • Misdeclaration of goods or lack of required permits;
  • Damage arising from packaging of restricted or perishable items.

Customers shipping prohibited or undeclared restricted items may be subject to additional fees, loss of account privileges, or refusal of future service.
